I think there's a lot of disagreement on how to best accomplish it though. There are valid concerns about the financial viability of programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. The best solution would be a crown corp with a specific mandate, much like the Post Office ( http://www.nalc.org/postal/perform/selfsufficient.html ) is currently run. This allows the government to drive the reforms necessary, while minimizing the effect on the federal budget. I think most people favor health care reform. The entire state of Indiana should be on the same time zone. It has created a terrible mess for planning school field trips, doctor appointments, and etertainment. It makes us look like a bunch of weirdos to have so many time zones. Go to Winamac and you will see that there are three times being run. It is crazy! Starke county is small so we need to travel to other counties to do business. With time change issues it is hard to do. Please help. Comment on Change of Heartland by Dustin Blythe http://www.starkedemocrats.org/uncategorized/change-of-heartland/comment-page-1/#comment-15 Dustin Blythe Sun, 02 Apr 2006 06:30:32 +0000 http://starkedemocrats.org/?p=17#comment-15 Something else about the Boston Globe article is the fact that they sent a reporter to our area to begin with. To many on the east and west coasts, Indiana is the perfect example of a "red" state; a state that has always given President Bush strong and steady support. The story between the lines is this: if the folks in "red state-bible belt-midwestern" Indiana are falling out of love with President Bush, he MUST be in trouble. Not only President Bush, but all who support him in Congress. Something else about the Boston Globe article is the fact that they sent a reporter to our area to begin with.
